Fees and Cancellation Policies

The Guild depends on tuition paid by workshop and class participants to cover the cost of paying instructors for their expertise, time and expenses. This cancellation policy defines the terms under which refunds may be offered when a registration is cancelled while also ensuring that the Guild’s financial commitments can be met.

Fees

  • For both classes and workshops, you must be a current member of the Triangle Weavers Guild to be eligible for the member rate.  This cannot be applied retroactively.
  • You are not considered registered for a class/workshop until the fee has been paid which is due within 4 days of your payment request notification.   If you have been enrolled from the wait list, payment is due in 2 days.

Cancellations

  • In the event that the guild cancels either a class or workshop all fees are refunded.
  • If a cancellation request is made before the specified cancellation date, a refund will be made less a processing fee ($10 classes, $25 workshops).
  • If a cancellation request is made after the cancellation date, a refund will not be given unless a slot can be filled with someone on the Wait List. If the slot can be filled, a refund will be made for the class/workshop cost, less the processing fee.

Exceptions to the fees and cancellation policy may be requested by the registrant if there are extraordinary circumstances and will require the approval of the Education Committee and the Board of Directors.

Registration Information

Registering for classes is easy.  Once a class on the Classes & Workshops page opens, you simply click on the link to register online.

If the class has openings you simply complete the registration form. As soon as it is submitted you will receive an email with the link to make payment. Your registration is not complete until you make payment. If payment is not received within 4 days your registration will be cancelled, so best to do at the time that you register. If you cannot make an on-line payment you may send a check to the registrar, instructions are provided in the confirmation.

If there are no openings, you can complete the registration form to join the wait list. It is not uncommon for there to be a cancellation, so we recommend that you complete the form to secure a place in the queue. Payment is not required until an opening becomes available. You will be notified by the registrar if there is an opening.

Attending a Class

Location

  • Most classes are held at the Triangle Fiber Arts Center (TFAC) in Durham near Hillsborough.
Information on TFAC, including the address, will be in the email you receive when you register
    for the class.
  • TFAC is not close to stores or restaurants, so you should bring lunch, drinks, snacks, etc that
you may want during the class. TFAC has a kitchen with a refrigerator and microwave.
  • Temperature in the building is variable so you may want to dress in layers.

What to bring

  • Most classes have the materials detailed in the class description. If there are additional requirements the instructor will provide the needed information ahead of the class start.
  • Depending on the class, you may be sent weaving drafts, information on where to buy specialized yarn, and directions for warping your loom.
  • If you are taking a class at TFAC and using a Guild loom, depending on the class you may be required to warp the loom ahead of time. Information on when looms are available for warping will be provided in the instructions. In addition, looms are usually available for a limited time after the last class should you need to complete any weaving before cutting off.
  • If the class is a zoom session, zoom links will be sent by the class coordinator.
