Here are some of the beautiful things created by talented weavers featured during the Show and Tell section of last month’s meeting.
Deflected Doubleweave Shawlby Petra Weishaupt-Smith
Petra used Holst Garn supersoft wool for both the warp and weft for this shawl – bleached white and cloudberry warp and bleached white and purple haze weft.
The key to smooth weaving of this sticky wool yarn is to use a reed with dent equal to the epi so that only 1 end is in each reed slot. In this case, Petra used a 15-dent reed for the 15 epi.The finished measurements are 23″ by 78″, and it is soft and lofty after hand washing. The warp was 14 yards long and 26″ wide and Petra wove 5 ponchos from the warp as well as this shawl. |

Turned Twill Scarfby Dornan Trainer
The lovely blue, sea green and purple scarf is made of 8/2 Tencel for both warp and weft. It is a turned twill for 8-shaft pattern from Pattie Lamb, modified slightly. Dornan learned so many tips and tricks and got a really nice scarf in the bargain! She highly recommends the Turned Twill class.

Bread Clothsby Dornan Trainer
The pattern for these bread cloths is Strickler 446 – a twill/overshot combination. This is 8/2 cotton for warp, pattern weft and tabby. Warp and tabby are off-white, and the pattern is in various colors. The sett is 20 epi.
