Ikat summer shawl inspired by the Uzbek Ikat program from last March.  It is based on a design from the Mary Zicafoose book, Ikat, which is in the Guild library.  This 70” piece is dyed with navy (plus a bit of silk black) MX dye on 8/2 tencel warp and 10/2 lunatic fringe cotton.  The tencel accent warp is also dyed with a mix of Golden Yellow and Emerald Green MX dye.  Wrapping so there is zero dye leakage is a challenge but worth it.  Weaving an Ikat demonstrated the incredible skill of the Uzbek weavers.
